1st Character Video Clip

Watch a good book lately?

A book trailer(tm) is like a movie trailer, only it's for a novel. COSProductions.com, which first coined that term, has created a phenomenal new book trailer for the upcoming paperback of my novel, The Lady of Serpents, Book Two of The Vampyricon.

The book trailer won't debut until August 6th, 2007 -- but we've got some special video clips from that trailer to tease you with before that date arrives.

Click the image below to bring up the special page with the NEW character video clip teaser from the upcoming book trailer for The Lady of Serpents in paperback.

Be sure and keep checking back here as more character video clips will go up before the great unveiling of the entire trailer.

#1 for Christine Feehan

My friend Christine Feehan's new book, Safe Harbor, just debuted at #1 on the NY Times list!

Congratulations, Christine!

Click the thumbnail below to see her slot on that list -- wow, this is a well-deserved moment for a great person:

Click the book cover below to go to Christine's website (go congratulate her!)

And be sure and watch Christine's new book trailer(tm) for Safe Harbor when you're at her site -- the special effects are terrific.

From the Director's Cut

Be sure and check back often for information about new books -- including the upcoming hardcover, The Queen of Wolves, as well as the paperback of The Lady of Serpents.

And particularly for the upcoming Book Trailer, Character Video Clips, and TV Commercial for The Lady of Serpents.

From the special Director's Cut of the Book Trailer, this moment of the vampyre escaping from an underground lair. Cody Tucker plays Aleric here -- in a scary moment.

Aleric in Alkemara

Here's a shot of Aleric -- played by Cody Tucker -- from the upcoming book trailer(tm) for The Lady of Serpents. Cody -- and Denise -- both played the characters in the very first book trailer for The Priest of Blood.

In this shot, Aleric approaches the ruins of an ancient city -- and exists in the modern day world. He tells the story of The Vampyricon from the 21st century, looking back on the medieval world into which he had been born.

Another Green Screen from The Lady of Serpents

Here's another green screen shot -- this is obviously something that was cut from the final trailer, but it shows Jessica as Enora, with the Nahhashim staff in her hand.

Pythia Close-Up

Don't forget to keep checking back -- the Book Trailer for the paperback The Lady of Serpents will debut on or about August 6, 2007. Before it goes live, there will be specific character clip scenes, too.

Here's a close-up shot of Pythia (played beautifully by Denise Feehan Tucker) as she glances at the viewer before striking like a serpent herself.

Character Actress

Check back for more news on the upcoming Book Trailer(tm) for The Lady of Serpents.

I find the effects magic of movies fascinating -- and COSProductions.com made a state-of-the-art creation with the upcoming Book Trailer and TV commercial for the paperback of The Lady of Serpents, using green screen and CGI effects to maximum potential.

But one particular thing that was brilliant, outside of the magnificent special effects, was casting a young actress who looks almost exactly the way I'd imagined the character of Alienora/Enora for the "Queen of Wolves" moment within the book trailer.

Here's the beautiful Jessica Flynn with a green screen moment, off-camera, holding up the image of The Queen of Wolves cover.

Below this is an image of her in character, with the effects magic around her.

Two More Photos from the Book Trailer

Here are two more still photos from the book trailer for the paperback release of The Lady of Serpents (which hits bookstores August 28, 2007, about a week ahead of the hardcover of The Queen of Wolves.)

The first is another shot of the very beautiful Enora, who changes in The Vampyricon from the lovestruck and conflicted baron's daughter into a sorceress with shadow priests and shapeshifting wolves.

Jessica, who plays Enora here, looks fairly close to exactly how I pictured the character.

The second -- for those who know The Lady of Serpents -- is the Virgin of Shadows, appearing in the plague dream of the Disk. The photo of this one doesn't do justice to the cool scene of this plague dream moment from the trailer.

Fifth Still from the Book Trailer

This one is a bit dark so it may not show up as well here, but in the book trailer for The Lady of Serpents, this looks incredible. This is Enora, with one of her wolves. Be sure and scroll down this page for various stills from the final book trailer.

Behind-the-Scenes of the Trailer

Here's a green screen moment from the book trailer, with Denise Feehan Tucker playing Pythia, and a serpent that apparently wants to travel up her sleeve. Photo is courtesy of Denise herself.

Denise - thank you for being brave enough to be the snake-handler!

And here's a glimpse of this scene in final form (but wait'll you see the finished book trailer -- it's amazing.)

Two More Stills from the Book Trailer

Here are two more still from the book trailer (tm) created by COSProductions.com for the paperback of The Lady of Serpents.

For those who know the book, this is a scene of the ashling, within the foundries of Taranis-Hir.

It's hard to convey with still images what the video creates in this scene, but I hope this gives you a glimpse of what's to come when the trailer goes live here:

Upcoming Book Trailer - Still Photo

The book trailer for the paperback of The Lady of Serpents is just about finished -- and wait 'til you see it!

I'll post a few stills from the trailer. First, this one of Pythia at the pyramids of Aztlanteum.

I've Always Liked Horseshoe Crabs

With the underwater camera, Raul got this shot of a barnacle-encrusted horseshoe crab.

The light wasn't great for this -- it was foggy. We're hoping to have better sun next time we try some underwater shots.

More Dog Days

I can't resist posting today's doggie beach shots of supermutt, Wacey, as he braves the wild sea...or cove...a very calm cove, at that.

It was a foggy, sticky day today, and we all enjoyed splashing around in the water.

The final shot is one that Raul took underwater, so you can see Wacey splashing around from beneath the surface, with the elusive tennis ball floating nearby.

Me and Wacey at Doggie Beach

I think I like this photo because I'm in the distance, and Wacey is like a negative space among the rocks. It's summer, and if I'm not writing, we're in the canoe or at doggie beach.

Best,

Douglas Clegg

New Book Trailer On the Way

Just got the news that it looks like the upcoming book trailer (tm) for the paperback of The Lady of Serpents will also be converted into a 30 second commercial that'll run on various cable networks. I'll post more news here as it happens.

Additionally, it'll get a huge distribution online -- and of course, I'd like to encourage you to put the book trailers of my books on your own website or myspace page. Help spread the word.

Right now there's a mini-teaser for The Lady of Serpents as well as a full-length book trailer(tm) of The Priest of Blood right here.

In fact, if you go to my MySpace page at www.MySpace.com/DouglasClegg, you can grab them right there.

Another picture from doggie beach -- Wacey watching some fishermen go out into the cove after striped bass.

Today, the Cat

Here are two pictures of our cat, Natalie, at my office window. In the first one, if you look to the left, you can see some art by Caniglia of a hanging person.

Somehow the cat and the window and the hanged person look good together.

In the second, it's just Natalie at the screened-in window.

Doggie Beach

Raul, my spouse, took this picture down at our local doggie beach, just a few blocks from our place. Here's our dog Wacey looking like part demon-dog and part-Hollywood movie star, at twilight, out on a kind of rough-hewn jetty that juts into the cove and bay here.
